Occurred January 2, 2012

Two groups got into an argument in a Modesto, California Walmart parking lot.  Shots were fired.  Luckily no one was hurt.  One person involved ran into the Walmart and was found to have legally-obtained ammunition on him, which he had purchased there.

From an article and news video:

Two groups got into an argument in the parking lot of the store, located at 2225 Plaza Parkway, which escalated into a shooting around 4:50 p.m., Modesto Police Sgt. Brian Findlen said. The suspects then fled the scene heading north and east.
When officers arrived at the scene, witnesses identified a white sedan in the parking lot, which was hit by at least two rounds.
Findlen said no one was injured in the shooting.
The occupants of the car were detained and then released after police determined they were the victims in the case, Findlen said.
A subject was seen running into Walmart, and another was seen going in the Kohl's store, just east of the store.
A man located inside the Walmart was detained, questioned and released after police found him to be in lawful possession of ammunition, which he bought inside of the store.
Findlen said police evacuated the store while officers searched for suspects and discarded weapons. Witnesses told police they saw subjects jumping the retaining walls that boardered the shopping center.
A search for the suspects did not turn up any suspects. Findlen said police continue to investigate the incident.
Both suspects are described as Hispanic men in their mid-20's and 5'6" to 5'7". One suspect was wearing a gray hoodie and black pants. The other suspect was wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and black pants.
